Recently I've been a lot into ordering stuff online using websites like Flipkart or Amazon etc. Believe me, I receive a package every other day. From books to electronic items, I've ordered literally all product types from the internet. I really like buying stuff online and do not miss any chance of doing so if required. One of the most frequent product I order are Books. I like reading and most of the time buy books from Flipkart or Amazon, whether they are paperbacks or just ebooks. Previously I've ordered stuff like Headphones, Computer accessories and other stuff using online shopping, so today I will be writing some safety tips for online shopping.
All online shopping websites have a review section which is under the product page. Read as many reviews as you can and also make sure that you are reading the most recent reviews. If after reading reviews you are not satisfied then don't buy that product. To make best decisions read reviews of that particular product from some other website (instead of shopping website) this will ensure real reviews.
Many times I've noticed similar products selling on Flipkart and Amazon.in having a price difference of up to Rs.700 which is quite a big sum. Before buying any product, it is good to check for similar product on other websites like Amazon, eBay, SnapDeal, NaapTol etc. So if you want a product XYZ, search on Flipkart and then note down the price, search for same product XYZ on Amazon and see if there is any difference in price.
Sometimes both the websites have same price but one may charge shipping and other might give free shipping. This happened to me, recently I wanted to buy a wireless computer mouse and I searched it on Flipkart and it was for Rs.500 + 60 rupees shipping charge, then I searched same product on Amazon and found the price as Rs.500 and free shipping (Bingo!)
COD is the safest way to pay when using online shopping service. This way even if the product doesn't arrive, your money is safe. As you'll be paying on delivery, you can check the quality also. COD gives you a little time before you get your product, so if the amount is big then you can have some time to arrange it (in case of mobile phones)
Only use credit / debit cards when you trust the website, if something looks fishy then don't do it. For the safety of your money, check for https:// before entering credit / debit card pin or password.
All bank websites are https where s means secure page. If it is simply http on the page where it is asking for credit / debit card password then never enter password.
I would recommend shopping on Flipkart or Amazon only and they are the largest online stores. Also Flipkart and Amazon.in ships to india and have high reputation in this field. The delivery is fast and the packing is very good, also most of the products come with free shipping.
So there were some tips which will definitely help you during online shopping. Tell me your views using the comment section.
